Stop for applications

However, you may still apply for Danish authorization if you:

  • Have a specific offer of employment for adaptation and training purposes as a specially requested healthcare professional. The offer must cover the entire three-year evaluation period and meet the requirements described on this page
  • Have valid legal residence in Denmark at the time of application for Danish authorization.
  • Have completed your education in a country outside the EU/EEA but are a citizen of Denmark, including the Faroe Islands or Greenland, or of another EU/EEA country.
  • Are educated in Greenland or the Faroe Islands.

These individuals can still apply for authorization and have their case processed.

If you can document a specific offer of employment for adaptation and training purposes as a specifically requested healthcare professional, you may be covered by the rules in this regard.

Application and Approval of Qualifications

Please note, that if you have achieved an overall level of education abroad which is equivalent to the Danish primary nurse education, you will be given a period of three years to fulfill the conditions for permanent authorization in Denmark.

2. Language Test

You need to pass the language test "Prøve i dansk 3" (Danish 3 Exam). The language test is held twice a year in May/June and in November/December, and you can take the exam from various language centers in Denmark. You can take the language test before you send your application and documentation of formal qualifications. However, you must have passed the exam less than 12 months before you apply for registration, unless you can prove that you have stayed continuously in Denmark in the period after you passed the language test.

3. Employment for Adaptation and Training Purposes

When we have found your foreign education equivalent to the corresponding Danish basic education as a nurse, you must take up employment for adaptation and training purposes (evalueringsansættelse).

The employment is designed to assess your clinical and communication skills and it is your own responsibility to find an available position. Your salary and work terms will be governed by standard employment conditions. Before commencing your employment, you must beforehand have applied and obtained a temporary authorization (evalueringsautorisation).. Please find further information in the "Employment for Adaptation and Training Purposes" section.
