Non-EU countries

Follow this procedure if:

  • You are a non-EU/EEA national who has completed psychologist training in a non-EU/EEA country.
  • You are a non-EU/EEA national who has completed psychologist training in an EU/EEA country (other than Denmark) or in Switzerland.
  • You are an EU/EEA national who has completed psychologist training in a non-EU/EEA country. You can apply for registration under the special EU/EEA provisions if you have worked as a psychologist for at least three years in another EU/EEA country or in Switzerland.
Please note

Applications for authorization are not yet possible for psychologists educated outside the EU and EEA

If you are a citizen of and/or have completed your psychology education in a country outside the EU/EEA, you cannot currently apply for authorization as a psychologist in Denmark. This is because the executive order has not yet entered into force.

Once the rules enter into force, the application process for applicants who are citizens of and/or educated in countries outside the EU/EEA is expected to include the following steps:

  1. Assessment and approval of your foreign qualifications, after which, within a period of three years, you must:
  2. pass a Danish language proficiency test
  3. complete a course in Danish health legislation
  4. complete a 6-month period of employment for adaptation and training purpose, concluding with a positive final evaluation

You will be able to find more information on this page once the rules enter into force. This is expected to happen on 1 February 2026.
