What can you apply for
You can apply for authorization, permission to practice independently as a medical doctor and one or several medical specialist registrations at the same time when filling out the application form. Please read more about the required documentation, if you have not yet obtained authorization and permission to practice independently as a medical doctor.
If you have already obtained Danish authorization and permission to practice independently as a medical doctor, it is possible only to apply for one or several medical specialist registrations.
Please note, that registration in the specialties Internal Medicine, Medical Allergology, Surgical Gastroenterology, and Clinical Neurophysiology is no longer possible in Denmark as training programs for these specialties have been discontinued.
Application Process
In order for you to obtain a Danish medical specialist registration, you have to:
- Hold citizenship in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Have completed your medical specialist training in an EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Please note, that if you have completed your education in a country outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland, but hold a citizenship from one of these countries, your application can be processed according to EU-regulations, if you can upload an Article 3.3 declaration. Read more
- Fill out the application form and upload the required documentation by using the application form and pay the fee.
Application fee
The fee for applying for specialist registration is DKK 5.195,-. You will be asked to pay the fee when you fill out the application form.
You need a Danish specialist registration if you want to work as a medical specialist in Denmark. The title is protected, and you can only call yourself a medical specialist if you have a Danish specialist registration.
