Language test
To work in the Danish health care system, you will be required to demonstrate your Danish language proficiency. This means that you must be able to understand, speak, read and write Danish on a certain level.
Danish 3 Exam
To demonstrate your Danish language proficiency, you need to pass the language test "Prøve i dansk 3" (Danish 3 Exam). This test consists of a written and an oral part in reading comprehension, written communication and oral communication. You must pass the oral communication test and obtain a minimum score of 10. In the reading comprehension and written communication tests, you must obtain a minimum score of 7 in each test. The minimum scores of the three tests must be obtained at the same exam.
You can take the exam at various language centres in Denmark. The exam is held twice a year in May/June and November/December. Contact your municipality to learn more about where you can take Danish classes.
You can pass the Danish exam before you send your application and documentation of formal qualifications. However, you must have passed the exam less than 12 months before you apply for authorisation, unless you can prove that you have stayed continuously in Denmark in the period after you passed the language test.
